Ladylike Website

Ladylike is a podcast channel on SoundOn. We decided to expand its division from only podcast channel to more communication funnels. To celebrate one year of this podcast, the hosts have decided to expand activities and events for the channel and collaborate together with the marketing material provided by hosting.

Owl mailbox is a series of listeners' questions, listeners send messages through instagram private messages to our Instagram account.

Main goal of the website is to gather the activities Ladylike have announced and working on to be on the document. Backstage of Ladylike is for production and inspiration focused, having the external platforms gather together on a visible site not only adding credibility to Ladylike but also working as external activity log.

Instead of receiving messages from DM box on instagram, Ladylike also decide to move mailbox access to different site to protect the privacy of our listeners while sharing their stories.

My Contribution

As Web designer, I research about web building tool. Main requirement is easy maintenance, average learning curve, multifunctions. I decide to use Wordpress to build the site because of developing potential such as plugins and no post limitation.

The main structure for website contains these:

-Podcast player

The podcast is main channel, the website need to be linked to RSS without extra plugin for easy maintenance.

-Blog

Expansion of the podcast is the script and articles in the backstage about different issues. Planning for website is to have this possibility in long run and available for other content managers.

-Updated news

Ladylike uses Instagram account as main platform for announcing new episode, episode related posts and events, the website should work accordingly.

Challenges:

Limitation of Wordpress for Mandarin font choices. (Free plan challenges.)

After the structure has been set, I test Wordpress environment to see the possibility of how flexible the web builder can adapt to the design. Since there is still content to be prepared, I change content layout to the IA above.

My Contribution

I build the questionnaire site using the Typeform after researching different online tool, Based on the previous episodes we made for the Owl mailbox series, I list necessary information for us to reply, how it should not limit the questions and easy backstage for other hosts to receive messages.

The questionnaire website serves these goal:

-Lengthen the duration of time

Lengthen the time period between each mails since the letters Ladylike received for the first few months have emotional effect on the hosts.

-Easy progress catch up

Typeform backstage has easy access to the amount of the reply.

-Credibility

Owl mailbox is an intimate series, making it external also means there is certain branding needed.

Challenges:

Limitation of Typeform not allowing customised ending page in old build for new registered users. (Free plan challenges.)
